Len Wallis Audio, along with Architect Geoffrey Watson of The Design Section and Maggie Attard and Natasha Levak from Coco Republic, all teamed together to make it a reality for the owners.

Custom sales consultant Alberto Vangi and senior installer Martyn North led the audiovisual installation for this exciting project. The security and C-Bus Automation control was designed and installed by Lee Vaughan & Ben Neale of EBM Systems, a partner company of Len Wallis Audio.

One of the first features you notice as you approach the front door is the polished stainless steel intercom unit with built-in colour camera and key pad. This device is not your standard intercom unit, but integrates into the home’s visual system allowing vision from the intercom to be displayed on all the LCD screens and the C-Bus colour touch screen in the kitchen.

The phones within the house can also communicate to the front door intercom and with the touch of button on the phone handset the owner can open the door. Unlike many standard intercom systems this has a thermostatic heater to stop the camera lens fogging in cold or wet weather; the high resolution colour camera gives the perfect picture of guests at the front door, while the keyless entry is pure convenience and the high grade polished stainless steel gives the perfect finish to the entry of this elegant home.

This totally keyless access control is also interfaced to C-Bus; therefore the owner can enter their code on the stainless steel key pads, after which the doors will open and the C-Bus will start a welcome scene turning on a pathway of lights inside the house if it is night. The home owner has the ability to easily add or delete keyless entry access codes from the house computer. The home owner can provide his children, relatives and the house cleaner with their own security codes allowing them access through some or all doors.

In the kitchen you will find the wall-mounted C-Bus colour touch screen which has the total control of the home’s lighting, air-conditioning, floor heating, heated towel rails, pool/spa equipment, security and ability of scheduling these electrical appliances to assist in making this an energy-efficient home. Simply at the touch of a button on the
C-Bus touch screen you can set the entire mood of the home should it be a party, dining or a ‘relax’ mode.

The C-Bus lighting is controlled throughout the home using the stylish stainless steel Reflection key switches to complement the home’s architecture. In the main bedroom the C-Bus Reflection switches also feature a ‘Goodnight’ mode. The home owner finds the Goodnight mode extremely useful: it turns off all the internal house lights when they go to bed at night, yet still leaving their bedroom lights on.

The security system has an interface to the C-Bus, allowing the two systems to work seamlessly together. When the home owner is leaving they simply press the ‘arm’ button on the security key pad, which arms the security system, activates C-Bus to start a shut-down procedure of the house for energy efficiency and notifies the security monitoring company that they are departing. Upon the owner’s return they simply enter the code on the security key pad, and the security system is disarmed, the monitoring company notified and C-Bus starts a welcome home scene. The home also has high resolution colour security camera monitoring the pool area, this camera can be viewed on the C-Bus touch screen or throughout the home’s LCD screens.

In the living room, which could have been inspired by a Ralph Lauren look, the lighting mode is set to what is called ‘Welcome Mode’ along with a sleek-looking Sharp 132cm (52-inch) Full HD LCD TV. There is also a 7.1-channel Focal surround sound speaker system powered by Yamaha digital sound processing and amplification for the serious sound lover. Convenience is now all at one’s fingertips, with a touch screen remote which can control DVD, Foxtel, Digital TV and even music through the Sonos Multi Room music system.

LCD technology has now introduced a new generation of audio-visual integration, which can now be enjoyed throughout every corner of a house. In the kitchen, there is a 51cm (22-inch) NEC LCD TV mounted above a handy Apple MAC computer location equipped with digital TV view and also access to the security camera. You can be preparing a meal whilst enjoying quality sound through the Focal ceiling speakers and Sonos music system, with another set of Focal in-ceiling speakers in the dining area.

The networked entertainment approach extends to the covered outdoor living space, which adds lifestyle options for the family. This is not your typical terrace. It flows off from a large fairly open space including living, kitchen, dining and cabana areas. A 107cm (42-inch) Sharp LCD can fold down from the ceiling via an Ultra-Lift Swing-Drop with audio delivered through Focal ceiling speakers. The technology is not the only stand-out feature in this space where there is even a wood fired pizza oven. Whether it’s keeping the kids happy while cooking, or adding some pizzazz to a party, all the bits are there, ready for use.

To top things off, the pool is equipped with C-Bus lighting with the ability to control the ambience. Speakercraft Rox weatherproof speakers were installed, connecting to the
universal Sonos music system. If the pool is not your cup of tea then there is also the option to head upstairs to the jacuzzi on the veranda to enjoy a heated spa that’s fitted with its own LCD screen.

For the multipurpose Study, the Internet can be accessed LCD technology has now introduced a new generation of audio-visual integration, which can now be enjoyed throughout every corner of a house.

There is even a games room for the kids, which also includes a pair of Focal ceiling speakers and the Sonos music system.

The owners have their own amazing system in the master bedroom with a wall-mounted 81cm (32-inch) Sharp LCD, which is connected to a Yamaha amplifier that provides the owner with Foxtel, Digital TV, DVD, iPod and Sonos music once again via RTI all in one controller. What makes the master bedroom even more exciting is its ensuite, which offers entertainment via a waterproof RTI remote, so that you can continue to watch the screen while having a bath.

On the ground level, the guest bedroom is also fitted with an LCD screen and ceiling speakers to enjoy DVDs, Digital TV/Foxtel or music.

Finally there is the icing on the cake for the audio-visual connoisseur. There is a double-barrelled Theatre Room which has a 117cm (46-inch) Sharp LCD wall-mounted screen, full surround sound via Focal speakers and Yamaha amplification, an RTI touch screen all-in-one control, then also an InFocus Projector mounted at the rear of the room to light up a 280cm (110-inch) LP Morgan drop-down screen which descends through a slim aperture from the ceiling.

The biggest blockbuster movies or sports events can be done justice here.

With a blend of such impeccable architecture, the views, interior design, C-Bus lighting, security/phone system and the audiovisual designed and installed by Len Wallis you can easily see why one could fall in love with this home. Not only is it a dream for any entertainer, but also the beach is merely a stone’s throw away.
