KNX National Group launches in Australia
“The formation of the National Group in Australia is a major milestone for the International KNX Association and we think it is beneficial to the industry as a whole through increased global standardisation,” says International KNX Association in Belgium director Heinz Lux.
“We are excited to see Australia moving forward with the KNX open standard and to officially welcome Australia as part of the KNX global family.”
Lux attended the meeting of the founding group in Sydney and oversaw the formal procedures which established the KNX National Group Australia.

The five companies involved with the establishment of the KNX National Group Australia are ABB, CISCO, Hager B&R, mySmart CTI and Somfy.
KNX National Group Australia inaugural chairman Ian Richardson says, “The formation of the National Group provides the Australian home and building automation industry with a vital resource that directly links to the controlling body of the International KNX Association.”
The KNX Association is a not-for-profit organisation and is actively supported by over 230 manufacturers worldwide, providing a range of solutions including lighting, metering, shutter and HVAC control as well as energy management, security and visualisation systems.
KNX is designed to be independent of any particular hardware platform. This allows independent manufacturers competing in a market to manufacture tailored technical solutions, in an environment maintained and overseen by an autonomous body that is not aligned to any single manufacturer.
This technology has been proven for more than 20 years in numerous global markets that it can offer technically advanced solutions including residential applications, office complexes, public buildings, airports, convention centres and six star hotels. Efficiency with energy management, security and increased comfort levels for occupants are some of the many advantages that can be seen in a KNX installation.
The new KNX National Group will be facilitating activities throughout 2011 to promote the attributes and advantages of KNX within Australia.
