D-Link has launched two new products in its Covr Whole Home WiFi range. Powered by the Qualcomm Mesh Networking Platform, the AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi System (COVR-2202) and AC1200 Dual-Band Whole Home WiFi System (COVR-C1203) provide dead spot free, high-speed, seamless WiFi to meet the demands of the modern smart home.

Featuring MU-MIMO technology, the AC1200 Dual-Band Cover Points in COVR-C1203 almost eliminate all annoying WiFi deadspots, and create a zone of dedicated high-speed, seamless WiFi for homes up to 1500m.

For users who need more power and WiFi coverage in larger homes, the COVR-2202 is recommended. The system is made up of two high-performance AC2200 Tri-Band Covr Points (two 5 GHz bands and one 2.4 GHz with WiFi speeds of up to 866 Mbps and 400 Mbps respectively.

To ensure that connectivity is never compromised, D-Link has implemented smart roaming technology in both of these products. Smart roaming is designed to continually analyse the wireless signal strength between devices, helping to automatically connect them to the Covr Point with the strongest WiFi signal.

For those who prefer a wired connection for specialist devices such as Network Attached Storage (NAS), smart TVs and gaming consoles, two Gigabit Ethernet ports per Covr unit give a solid wired performance.

“With the number of connected devices increasing in the home, capacity has become an important feature for technology providers to deliver in order to meet consumer expectations,” says Qualcomm Technologies vice president and product management Gopi Sirineni.

“Products like the D-Link Covr, powered by our Mesh Networking platform, have become the essential ingredient for today’s connected home, delivering seamless, reliable and high-quality connectivity throughout the home and across all devices.”

The new mydlink Connected Home Ecosystem

D-Link showcased the new mydlink Connected Home Ecosystem with new products and the new mydlink app at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Products include the CES 2018 Innovation Awards Honoree DCS-1820LM 4G/LTE Outdoor Camera, as well as other new smart cameras, smart plugs, and a water sensor. D-Link’s new mydlink ecosystem consolidates non-router mydlink devices under one single app, increasing smart automation possibilities and enabling rich features such as cloud recording and IVA.

Its One-Tap feature allows consumers to easily control multiple devices and bundle multiple actions into scenarios. BLE makes setup simple and quick, and 3rd party compatibility with Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant, and IFTTT means that mydlink meets the needs of smart homeowners, without locking them into any one ecosystem.

D-Link also announced its next generation Covr whole home WiFi solutions powered by the Qualcomm Mesh Networking Platform. It is the first mesh system with swappable covers in different colours. The Covr Tri Band Whole Home WiFi System (COVR-2202) delivers powerful performance and speed, and its smart backhaul feature uses smart antennas to automatically optimise backhaul signal between the Covr Points for a reliable connection.

Both Covr Whole Home WiFi Systems feature Smart Roaming, Smart Steering, and seamless connection for homes of any size and on multiple devices simultaneously. The solutions are also scalable, as users can add extra Covr Points depending on their individual needs.

The new DIR-X6060 and DIR-X9000 11AX Ultra WiFi Routers offer a solution for multiple devices in dense environments. The DIR-X6060 is a dual band router with combined speeds up to 6000 Mbps, and the DIR-X9000 is a tri band router with combined speeds up to 11,000 Mbps.

Featuring improved coverage and four times more capacity over 11AC with a 1.8GHz quad-core processor that delivers higher network speed, they are ideal for simultaneous HD and 4K streaming, VR, gaming, and cloud/remote storage. 4×4 MU-MIMO allows more users to perform even more data intensive tasks on more devices with less network congestion. With BSS Colouring and OFDMA, the routers deliver more efficient networking for extreme home networks, especially in device-dense environments.

D-Link introduce AC2600 WiFi Router

D-Link has announced the D-Link AC2600 WiFi Router Powered by McAfee (DIR-2680), a solution that automatically increases security for devices on the home network and delivers on both companies’ vision to address the need for online security as people’s lives become increasingly connected.

The comprehensive solution includes D-Link’s high-performance dual-band 802.11ac router with MU-MIMO technology that enhances network capacity and efficiency for users, McAfee Secure Home Platform that protects devices connected to the network, and the Intel Home WiFi Chipset WAV500 Series to deliver stable WiFi connectivity to numerous connected devices at the same time, running a range of high-bandwidth applications.

The new D-Link AC2600 WiFi Router Powered by McAfee immediately and automatically helps secure all connected devices at the network level in a home, including non-display IoT devices, providing an additional layer of protection from potential hackers and for members of the home using devices and accessing online content.

“We’re on the forefront of preventing and fighting cybercrime as consumers need to feel safe and protected as cyber threats continue to rise,” says McAfee executive vice president consumer business group John Giamatteo.

“Our partnership with D-Link helps consumers benefit from both increased connectivity and peace of mind knowing that their connected devices are protected.”

Global Threat Intelligence features adaptable machine learning that protects by preventing, detecting, and correcting malicious malware and attacks. The DIR-2680 is designed for families and smart homeowners looking for the ultimate home networking without sacrificing privacy and security.

Additionally, comprehensive parental control features provide customised protection for children in the household. The DIR-2680 is easily set up with the D-Link WiFi app and can be managed from anywhere with the McAfee Secure Home Platform app.

“As the number of connected devices in homes increases, consumers are increasingly concerned about online security threats. D-Link teamed up with McAfee and Intel to address these concerns with a powerful, easy to manage, all-in-one solution,” says D-Link ANZ managing director Graeme Reardon.

“The new AC2600 WiFi Router Powered by McAfee is our solution for consumers to help protect their homes and children from evolving online threats.”

“As consumers bring more devices and connected activities into their homes, they expect reliable, secure connectivity,” says Intel Connected Home Division vice president and general manager Dan Artusi.

“We are working closely with industry leaders like D-Link to develop solutions that make home networks faster, smarter and more secure to ultimately enable new immersive smart home experiences.”
