Origin Acoustics has announced the availability of their popular Director Series and LCR Collections of loudspeakers.

One of the most significant advancements in their range is The Director 3-way model which is now much smaller in terms of depth making it easy to fit in confined ceiling spaces. The new series also offers improved output sensitivity by an average of 3dB – this was done through impedance and crossover refinements.

The decreased power requirements makes The Director more efficient and economical  thanks to its new Ultra-Pivot Mids and Tweeters that possess a smoother and more secure mechanism with a focus on critical mid and high frequencies. Accompanying this feature is the X-Wave which absorbs frequencies between 700-1400 Hz that normally run up and down the cone of the woofer.

The interior of the baffle has also been fitted with a Variable Depth Absorption Layer (VDAL) which reduces resonances and eliminates mid and high frequency reflections that impact clarity.

The Director Series is the largest matched-timbre in-ceiling line with matched materials on all five models.  It now includes new rubber materials that is added to the baffle that reduces unwanted reflections and gives a total aesthetic ‘blackout’ through the use of black aluminium and black Kevlar components.

Acoustic neutrality and stable designs are a constant with Origin as they use Compression Molded Woofer Baskets to create basket designs to increase linearity and overall performance. A paintable, perforated and magnetic grill covers the face which gives it a sleek appearance and makes it easy to replace or remove when needed.

Lastly, spring-loaded clips and Tool-Less Installation means the weight is distributed evenly throughout the speaker. This has proved to be important as stable installation results in less vibration and energy transferred into the wall or mounting area.

Origin Acoustics vice president Nick Berry says that the success of the company is largely the result of the persistence put into innovation and design for each product.

“The new second-generation Directors Series and LCR Collection is the result of our continued obsession to innovate and improve by advancing every aspect of each system. No matter how colossal the advancement, the products’ acoustic performance and installation ease for the installer is our top interest,” says Nick.
