Optoma launches ultra-bright lamp-free projector
When lamp-free projectors hit the market a few years ago, the price tag was unjustifiable to the majority of the market. Now, the technology has become a lot more popular which has seen the price drop significantly.
Projector manufacturer Optoma has launched its latest foray into the lamp-free projector market, the ZU650 laser-phosphor professional projector.

Designed for ‘fit and forget’ installations, lamp changes are eliminated and expensive maintenance cycles are significantly reduced.
The projector delivers a high level image quality with brightness suitable for virtually any environment.
For integrators dealing with multiple projector set-ups it is handy to know the ZU650 has edge blending controls to make that complex task a little easier. The projector features a colour matching system which can produce seamless blends. To deliver uniform brightness, Optoma has installed multiple light source power options. This includes a laser-phosphor light source technology which produces a sealed, mercury-free optical design. This prevents dust entering the projector and reduces warm-up and cool-down time, as well as a long life light source operation of up to 20,000 hours with minimal maintenance.
An output of 6,000lm of brightness can be adjusted to be suitable for a lounge room to a football stadium.
The WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution offers 15% more pixels than 1080p resolution. This presents exceptionally sharp detail and a noticeable difference, particularly on larger commercial screens such as those located in sports stadiums and entertainment arenas.
For optimal flexibility, five motorised lens options with automatic zoom and focus allow integrators to easily achieve the desired image size. Using the vertical axis of the ZU650, images can be projected over a full 360º range on a ceiling or floor. Portrait mode is also available.
HDBaseT connectivity simplifies cabling requirements as it allows the transmission of uncompressed HD video over a Cat 5e/6 Ethernet cable. The ZU650 can be monitored over a local area network and alert the end user with an email should an error occur or a light source fail via Crestron RoomView software.
This latest lamp-free solution from Optoma provides incredible flexibility and superb image quality and brightness.
